POSITION SUMMARY

Design and prepare clear, complete and accurate production documentation for printed circuit boards (PCBs).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and analyze electrical design schematics and supporting documents to plan layout of PCB components and printed circuitry.
  • Perform and understand schematics capture, create and troubleshoot net list and routing rules from customer provided information packages about the design.
  • Confer with engineers to resolve design details and problems.
  • Perform placement and routing of PCBs for engineering review.
  • Prepare PCB routing layout for engineering review.
  • Prepare PCB manufacturing data for use in PCB fabrication.
  • Generate accurate fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and manufacturing artwork using Valor and Blueprint PCB.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics.
  • Create detailed electrical/mechanical layouts with the use of schematics and guidance from engineers.
  • Work directly with designers and engineers to prepare drawings from conceptual design to final product documentations.
  • Maintain engineering documentation files and incorporate engineering change notices.
  • Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • Assist Drafters, Designers, and Engineers with questions and concerns about their designs and layouts.
  • Develop and research better ways to design Printed Circuit Boards.
  • Generate detail Fabrication drawings and Assembly drawings, Bill of Material and Gerber files of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB).
  • Knowledgeable with the standard geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in accordance with ANSI Y14.5M-1995. Preferably familiar with military drawing standards, IEEE standards, and IPC standards.
  • Interpret drawings in accordance with MIL-STD-100.
  • Analyze various design requirements and recommend possible solutions or alternate constructions. Also prepare and evaluate tolerance stack-ups of the PCB.
  • Assist in the follow-up of prototype construction with outside vendors.

 

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Electronics, Computer Science or Engineering) is preferred.
  • 5+ years of related experience and/or training.
  • Previous background in manufacturing is a plus.
